Another soul for Purgatory, but none for Hell.

Hmm,
Something makes no sense here. According to the power description, JBG will block a devil gaining a soul, if she prays for them.
But on Night 8, I got Moley's soul even though JBG was praying for him, so that power must have been blocked. She got a reading back, so it wasn't a full power block, Moley was dead so he couldn't block it with the power of Science.
AFAICT, the only partial block that Night was guiri on Manipulators. But JBG is marked as a Mechanic/Investigator, so should not have been affected.
What am I missing here?

I'm feeling charitable.
It means the mechanical side got blocked, not the investigative.

Your missing the point. I don't think I should have been able to claim Moley's soul on Night 8?

But with the mechanical side being blocked, that would be naturally the side that affected a gameplay mechanic, such as your ability to claim souls.

then yeah, pleonast made a booboo I guess. Maybe. Okay, I did. The Intercessor's block on soul claiming is a Manipulation power. The Intercessor's reduction of sins is a Mechanic power. Blocking one part does not block the part. An Angel or two is bitching at me too, if it makes you feel better. ;D

Although the Devils still have not been mathematically eliminated from winning yet, after the results of Night Nine, your odds are extremely thin. Unfortunately, it may take several more Days yet and thus real-life weeks to get to the point where you are definitively defeated. I'm not sure the quality of game-play over that period will be especially fun.
In order to avoid the slow slog to the final end, do the Devils wish to concede the game?
I'm not yet at the point of unilaterally ending the game, but I'm close. If you have a clear strategy in mind about how you think you can win, please let me know.

At this point the game is pretty much over, I'd guess.
Also it ending means I get to run my thing a little bit sooner, so I'm kind of biased.

How is it over? We have three souls in purgatory, just one player is sinless right now, and town still seems happy to lynch and kill each other. If they listen to bill and start committing suicide by mod, even better for us as they're not sinless... Sure, we have to get all souls and Ginger would be the ideal lynch toDay but hey, I'm having fun.

Thought so about the Intercessor. I guess the game is too complicated even for the GM The problem is that the remaining town members don't really have the conviction to all vote No lynch which means at the end of each day they are going to have sins. Tonight, we can probably pick up two of the three sinners as a guess: SJ: Lust crys: Envy Scathach: Lust If they kill jbg - we don't have to worry about the purgatory anymore. If the kill colby today - we don't have to worry about him self cleansing. Failing that a block/kill when he does have sins will do it if we can get them from purgatory. Killing ryjae means everyone going forward will have sins. Its still doable leaving BillMC to the last and using an soul gained NK to finish him off. Realistically, we need all of them to win, but there are enough combinations if the town allows to complete it. Long shot: Oh hell yes, but still possible. I'd call it a fun experience and quite happily settle for a draw.

It's over from the point of view that its not going to be much fun for anyone who isn't you guys. All it really is going to be is kind of frustrating and obnoxious.

True, after the game has finished, several people will probably feel a bit annoyed about how the game is going from this point onwards, or even from Day 9 onwards after guiri was NK'd But the problem is that the game can still be won by either side. *Gets out popcorn, settle back into chair*

Why would they no lynch?
They have no indication you're dead, and since you're all dead you really shouldn't have half as much power as you actually do - you were caught for christ sake. A scum team that played poorly enough that all of them were caught should not be able to win. Otherwise it's not mafia, particularly when the rules indicate recruitment was possible (even though it wasn't) and don't clearly define much of the way of anything for the town - they don't know when you're all dead, they don't know when to stop, and the game should have ended the second you all failed to claim any new souls.

Can't they still lynch each other and we guess their sins, get their souls, and fill up hell? Is a scenario possible where they are nearly all dead and we spend a series of Nights guessing sins to see if we can get them before they enter Heaven?

I don't think the devils played that badly. I don't think there was any incentive at all for them to play actively during the daytime when the penalty for being lynched is so much smaller than is usually the case with mafia. Nonetheless I agree with what most of Paranoia is saying here. The town can keep lynching people even though there are no hostile targets to lynch. They really have no indication that this is the case, so... I don't know.

Yeah I agree with the others as well. I think it would be fair to call it at this point. Town has no way of knowing that there aren't more devils, and will keep blindly lynching. It was frustrating and was starting to get stale when I died.
I don't see it being fun for anyone else for us to "wait a few more nights" for you get a bunch of guesses in.
