Any comments about Day One.

Interesting slip by Nanook. I wonder if it was honestly a slip or just bad wording. (Yeah, I know the slip was last night, but he's taking the heat for it now.)
Also, Pleo what do you see as the ramifications in a mass claim for each faction. Do you think any faction will benefit more or be harmed more?

Wow! CIAS is coming out swinging. And he's about as accurate as one can be at this point in the game. He's already fingered pedescribe and Nanook as scum. He's also made a completely accurate educated guess that there are 16 town and 3 undead.
Although, he's wrong about the Cabal having individual powers. But still, if his actions lead to Nanook's lynch, it should give both him and town a boost. I also think it might buy him some protection.

A complete role claim by the Town would be bad for them. Although everyone has some useful power, some are more important than others. And there is not enough protection to go around. The Witches need to stay hidden. The Scotsman and Magician work best if hidden.
But, forcing everyone to make a claim can be useful too. Many claims will be unsupportable. I think overall, it's better to not do the all claim, though.

Interesting slip by Nanook. I wonder if it was honestly a slip or just bad wording. (Yeah, I know the slip was last night, but he's taking the heat for it now.) Well after seeing his defenses, it obviously wasn't bad wording. He meant to write what he said, so it was at least a semi-conscious action and not just a semantic goof. And even though I do believe he's being honest in that he was making some assumptions in his head based on what happened last game, and that he can't get to Google Docs (after all, my workplace blocks them as well, as it does practically all "Bandwidth Storage" sites), I can easily see perfect knowledge entering into his thought process on what he posted. The amusing thing is that he's being taken to task for it by every faction other than Cabal, and I haven't seen Cabal defend him much. Maybe they're hoping it'll blow over and don't want to risk tying themselves to him. The problem is, if they don't defend him now, it'll look even more suspicious should they defend him later.

Omi was really throwing off some "I'm a Doctor" vibes there. I won't be surprised if he gets targeted ToNight.

And CIAS now suspects DrainBead as well. He's now fingered two wolves and a cabalist, and was the one who really got things rolling with the cabalist.
I wonder if the wolves will take him out because he's already hit two of them with his scumdar. It's interesting for the Detective to put himself out like that so much, but really, I've never thought that power roles should necessarily play under the radar. It's ends up being a WIFOM with scum as to how dangerous you are, so it's not like it's necessarily going to prevent you from being whacked, and it has the added disadvantage of not helping town. A WIFOM with a negative is pretty much bad strategy. There are no doubt situations where under the radar might have benefits, but I really think CIAS is the best asset town has at this point in the game.

I'd say Nanook is toast. I know if I were a player I'd be voting for him. Although his "slip" was an honest mistake, it was his later claim "I don't have a secret power" that is damning. Certainly good enough for a Day One lynch.
It'll be fun to see reactions and re-thinking when his side is announced at the end of Day Two.

Dangerous claim by Nanook. Very dangerous. He'll be lucky to make it to midgame. However, the best move for town to make with him right now is for Oredigger to enchant him. It'll take out two scum since it's unlikely the vig is going to go after him at this point.
I wonder if Oredigger is aware how truly powerful his power is. It is the best thing one can do to claimants because the only townie it can potentially hurt is a vig. Basically, a claim that's patently false should be left to lynch or vig. A claim that's potentially true should be left to the Warlock.
And CIAS is now taking heat for bad strategy. It's understandable especially on Day 1. Too bad, since right now he's the best thing town has going for them.

Hockey Monkey
This screams out "I'm a witch" to me. I mean, logically it's a point I would have raised as town, and probably anyone but cabal, but she's coming across way too forceful. Admittedly, I might have a bit of bias being spoiled, but I still don't think she should have worded it this way.

You're right. That was inopportune for Hockey. Although it's not a clear-cut slip, it's probably enough for scum to take notice. And scum (especially solo killers like Vampires) don't need a good reason to kill anyone, a slim hunch is often how they choose their victim.

Fortunately, I think either Roosh or MHaye will be smart enough to realize this and the witches will protect her toNight. Unfortunatley, if CIAS is going to have to claim, they've created a WIFOM for who they protect. With two vamps, I can easily see one of them and Nanook being whacked toNight.

pedescribe:
Interesting that he put that in there. My question is why? Obviously saing "I'm town" is a statement that means nothing, because everyone claims to be town, so adding it on as an afterthought is pointless, and in my opinion starts to enter the realm of "the player doth protest too much". However, he doesn't even say "I'm town", he says "I'm not cabal". This would ping me big time because not only is he throwing on a pointless tag, but the tag doesn't even say he's not scum of some type.
In of itself, this probably wouldn't be voteworthy, but it's a great slip to seize upon on early Days, particularly Day 1.
