If he had 32, he wouldn't ascend until the end of Day 7. Interestingly, my first calculation for their number of sins was 32. But I forgot that the Penitent cleansed their own sin, so that was reduced by one. Pity we can only protect those on Earth. Pleo, Strictly out of curiosity, since I can't see any way to use it to our advantage, could I still use "Greed" if I chose toNight? That was one of the last things I decided on (like whether or not Devils could make a claim as they kill a player). No, you can't use any powers except for the guardian angel power. And thematically, it doesn't make sense to let players in Heaven sin.

Okay, and yes -- that does make perfect sense. Just wondering as my greed was still listed in the gamestate post.

I think Moley hears hoofbeats and thinks zebras: Jan told them what happened.

In case future readers are wondering why I put in extra factions with identical victory conditions--it's simply a way to limit the more powerful roles. Heretic Scientist: gets information about the game setup and player actions Heretic Manichee: total blocker/protector Pagan Prophetess: gets role type and potentially discover hidden powers Pagan Medium: talks to dead players
Potentially, if I ever run a similar setup, I could do some interesting win conditions with the different factions. (The players are coming up with some excellent ideas.) But the balance will have to be totally redone, because the information asymmetry is essential here. That is, town is too powerful if they know too many of the game mechanics.

Sis C - Are you around?? I've had a busy w/e and trying to catch up - Are you using your Guardian Angel Power today? I don't want to use it on the same person as you and waste one of our opportunities!

Pleo, You may not be around, but I'm hoping you are. What would happen if I protected Scathach toDay? She is in the lead for the lynch with 6 votes. Would texcat, suburban or pollux be lynched in her place or would there be no lynch since scathach was protected? Thanks edited b/c I'm an idiot. I *know* Pleo is hosting this game and just had Pollux on the brain since he's one of the potential lynch leaders.

The guardian angel will only cancel Devils' votes on the protected target.

ffs, these guys are giving me heart failure. I'm trying to figure out tie-breaker resolves and see if it's worth it to now save SP. If one more person would just vote Mahaloth, I think I can can pull this off by Guardian Angel power for SP...........I think......

If one more person votes Mahaloth and I protect SP, then Texcat, SP, Mahaloth, Pollux and scathach should all be tied.
The Baron doesn't have a vote on any of them. the Executioner has a vote on Pollux and Mahaloth and Mahaloth (ironically) would then have the most votes from Hell and would be lynched.... if I have figured this out correctly......

There are no votes in Hell, currently. The Devils have forgotten about that tie-breaker and it may cost them when things are so close.
Also, texcat The Executioner is considering to use their one-shot power to redirect the lynch onto Pollux Oil.

Shoot and texcat was the one who wanted to look at the people who hadn't committed sins too. Since Devils Have sins but don't commit them, keeping Pollux would have been helpful.

Oh, Pollux has been bad. They're in Purgatory right now. But Paranoia needs some company. Also, Devils can commit sin--whenever they activate a Cardinal Sin or kill a Christian, they pop up on the Gossip's sin list. It's actually one of the more powerful roles.

I'm in Heaven! Yaaay! Although seeing how many sins Paranoia has, I kind of wish Ginger had prayed on him instead of me, I only had one (I think) and would have ascended way quicker on my own.
Lot of information to digest, going to take me a while to sort through all the roles. I thought the scum had killed me, but turns out texcat was just saving her own bacon and mistook me for scum. Shame.
Also goddangit what the heck are Moley and Silver Jan doing? I had Chucara and guiri as possible scum threats except they were "cleared." At least I was somewhat right in my suspicion of mahaloth. And I was actually going to track KidV on Night Two except Suburban voted for him as well. I'd gone through my list of sinners and systematically eliminated people who'd placed one-off votes, and KidV was one of the ones that stuck out when my sins were left over. Bah! I could have done a lot more damage with my information if people had been willing to trust me instead of assuming it was a Devil power (and a very overpowered Devil power at that).
Finally, if I'm reading correctly, there isn't any fundamental difference between Christians, Pagans, and Heretics? They all can win together?

They can all win together. It's a red herring to make it harder to play the more powerful roles. The Gossip role is also very powerful, because anyone who kills a non-Devil shows up on your list. Lots of confounding factors, of course, but late game you could've figured a lot out. On another note, I can't believe only one of the Devils submitted an action on Night Three. But just as bad, none of the Priory protected anyone. Poor play all around.

Interesting. One of the things I like to do when I host games is to play around with conventions and try and get players to learn something after the game is over. I was going to say that since you often speak about how Town shouldn't immediately judge third-parties when they're not win-stealers, so that the Pagan/Heretics could be red herrings and to teach people to follow their win conditions. However I got caught up in saving myself instead. Oh well.
I think the 24-hour Night caught everybody off guard, although it shouldn't have because you announced it was going to be 24 hours long when the game started/had sign-ups. People need to pay attention to the rules. I'm also surprised the Devils didn't immediately go for Moley either since he essentially tricked himself into giving away his CS to them.
Chucara made a pretty big slip on the main board. I guess we'll see how badly Moley will screw the game up for Town depending on how much attention it gets.

I think patricia's mistake and subsequent lynch might actually end up winning the game for the Devils if the Town doesn't shut up. They're running with the assumption that the Devils don't have any information on Cardinal Sins when in fact they have perfect information, and the only thing they don't know is each individual's Cardinal Sins. People are being way, way, way too loose about the Cardinal Sin powers.
Hockey Monkey and Holy Moley are boned for sure. I'd suggest guardian angeling them if it looks like the Devils may go directly after them toNight.

And the first post of the Night thread said exactly when it ended: tomorrow.
You've got the right idea about the third parties. Although I should note that the rules state that win conditions might not be entirely known. So it's possible the third parties could be win stealers without realizing it.
Yeah, if the Devils can survive the mass claim that's coming sooner or later, they'll have an easy time picking off players who've given away they're Cardinal Sins. I think the real lesson of this game is "some information must be shared, and some must be kept absolutely secret".
